How halal meal prep works in Melbourne
Updated August 2026
Halal meal prep means someone else does the sourcing, cooking and portioning, and you get a week of halal meals ready to heat. The part most people want reassurance on is the sourcing and handling — so here is exactly how ours works, and what to ask any provider you buy from.
What makes a meal halal — beyond the meat
Halal-certified meat is the starting point, not the whole answer. A meal is only halal if nothing along the way compromises it: no pork products, no alcohol in marinades or sauces, and no shared surfaces or utensils with non-halal ingredients. Ask a provider three questions: where the meat is certified, whether the kitchen handles pork at all, and how meals are packed.
We cook halal only. There is no pork or alcohol in the kitchen, so there is nothing to keep separate from.
Fresh to order, not cooked in bulk
Most meal prep companies batch-cook days ahead. We cook fresh to order with premium ingredients and authentic saffron. That means your order takes a little longer — deliveries across Melbourne land in 2 to 4 days — but nothing sits in a warmer waiting for demand.
Vacuum sealing, storage and reheating
Each meal is vacuum sealed straight after cooking. That locks in moisture and stops the fridge smell transfer you get with plastic tubs. Keep refrigerated at 5°C or below and always follow the use-by date printed on every pack. To keep meals longer, freeze them at −18°C or below, then thaw overnight in the fridge and heat within 24 hours. Do not refreeze a thawed meal.
To eat, open the pack and microwave the meal in a microwave-safe dish. All proteins are fully cooked in our kitchen. Heat every meal until it is steaming hot right through (74°C or above in the centre) before serving. Full detail is on the storage and heating page.
Building a realistic week
A week of halal meal prep does not have to mean 21 containers. Most people cover the meals they would otherwise buy out — usually five lunches or five dinners.
- Five complete meals: protein, rice or potatoes and vegetables — $20 to $24 each.
- Five pack of skewers: protein only, so you add your own carbs and salad — $70 chicken, $80 lamb, $90 eye fillet.
- Delivery: $10 within 10 km of the city, $15 further out.
If you eat the same rhythm every week, a weekly or fortnightly plan takes 10% off every delivery and you can pause or cancel it yourself.
Allergens and dietary needs
Every menu item lists its full ingredients, allergens and a may-contain statement on its own page, along with calories and macros. Our meals are made without gluten-containing ingredients and without preservatives. If you have a specific allergy, tell us before you order and we will confirm whether we can safely cook for you.
Common questions
- What makes a prepared meal halal?
- Halal-certified meat, no pork or alcohol anywhere in the recipe, and handling that keeps halal ingredients separate from non-halal ones through prep, cooking and packing.
- How long does halal meal prep last in the fridge?
- Our meals are vacuum sealed after cooking and should be kept in the fridge, or frozen if you want to keep them longer. Tip the meal into a microwave-safe dish — not the vacuum pack — and reheat for 1 minute 15 to 1 minute 30 seconds.
- How much does halal meal prep cost in Melbourne?
- Our complete meals are $20 to $24 each, and a five pack of skewers is $70 (chicken), $80 (lamb) or $90 (eye fillet). Delivery is $10 within 10 km of the city and $15 beyond it.
